Take Part: How to Submit
If you have something to share, we would love to hear from you! Please have a look at our mission statement and some of our core values. If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, then great! We would love to share your poems, short stories, short non-fiction, art, how-to-guides and more with other folks. You do not need any accolades, degrees, or other credentials to be part of this community.
We are not interested in any work that promotes racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, or discrimination of any kind based on class, ability, socioeconomic status, appearance, and/or background (such as addiction or incarceration). We reserve the right to expand this list as needed.
We believe in paying artists fairly for their work! Because we believe in a community/collective model, each contributor will be paid an equal share of the zine’s profits. This means that we will be transparent about costs going into the production of the zine as well. We will share more of the specifics of this with contributors, and soon here on the website. In the mean time, if you have any questions about this process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
Our first issue will be coming out on December 1st, 2020 and will be centred around the Solstice. The theme of this issue is Resilience. Please have submissions to us no later than September 30th, 2020.
Our second issue will be out in March and will centre around the equinox. Please send submissions for issue 2 no later than December 31, 2020.
Please email submissions to hello@folkloreforresistance.com and we will get back to you as quickly as we can. Do keep in mind that this is a zine, so space is limited. Please note that priority will be given to those who identify as members of the BIPOC, disability, and/or LGBTQ2S+ community.
Here are some ideas of things to include in your submission:
a photo or description of your art
a synopsis of your submission, especially if it is prose or a how-to-guide
a brief introduction of who you are, with a link to your website if relevant
